Composition: Salinomycin sodium 120 g/kg (equiv. Salinomycin 116.6 g/kg)
Actions: Coccidiocidal; effective against avian Eimeria spp. Bio-Cox belongs to the monovalent class of ionophores and should be used in rotation with bivalent and monovalent glycoside ionophores.
Description: Light brown granula premix.
Indications: For the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria acervulina, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. mivati, E. necatrix and E. tenella in broiler chickens and in replacement birds intended for use as caged layers. For improvement of productivity by stimulating the growth rate and increasing feed conversion of grower/finisher pigs and feedlot beef cattle.
Contraindications: Do not feed to animals receiving tiamulin (eg Dynamutilin, Tiamutin). Do not feed to horses or any other animals (such as adult turkeys) not included in the label claim. DO NOT USE in cows which are producing, or may in the future, produce milk or milk products for human consumption. DO NOT USE in laying birds which are producing eggs or egg products for human consumption.
Warnings: Care must be exercised when feeding concurrently with other antimicrobials. BIO-COX should be mixed into a secondary premix prior to incorporation in finished feeds.
Precautions: Do not exceed recommended use levels. Medicated feed must be labelled appropriately. For use only in broiler chickens and non-laying replacement pullets up until 7 days before onset of egg production.
Safety Directions: Harmful if inhaled or swallowed. Will irritate the eyes. May irritate the nose, throat and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale dust when opening the container and mixing into feed. Wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and a washable hat, elbow length PVC gloves, goggles, and disposable dust mask. If product gets in eyes, wash out immediately with water. After use, and before eating drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms, and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day's use, wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing.
First Aid: If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126: New Zealand 0800 POISON (0800 764 766).
Disposal: Shake and empty contents into medicated feed. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site. Puncture or shred and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, vegetation and roots. Empty containers and products should not be burnt.
Withholding Periods:
MEAT - NIL
MILK - DO NOT USE in cows which are producing, or may in the future, produce milk or milk products for human consumption.
EGGS - DO NOT USE during laying or within 7 days of laying where eggs are to be used for human consumption or processing.
Dosage and Administration: BIO-COX should be mixed into a secondary premix prior to incorporation in finished feed.
Poultry: For use only in broiler chickens and non-laying replacement pullets up until 7 days before onset of egg production. Thoroughly mix 500g BIO-COX 120G to each tonne of chicken feed. This produces a salinomycin level of 60 g/tonne in the finished feed which should be fed continuously as the sole ration.
Pigs: For piglets less than 4 months of age: add 0.25 to 0.5 kg of BIO-COX to each tonne of feed. This produces a salinomycin level of 30 to 60 g/tonne in the finished feed.
For pigs greater than 6 months of age: add 0.125 to 0.25 kg of BIO-COX to each tonne of feed. This produces a salinomycin level of 15 to 30 g/tonne in the finished feed.
Cattle: Mix 125 g BIO-COX 120G in 1 tonne of cattle feed to provide a Salinomycin concentration of 15 g/tonne (15 ppm).
Presentation: Premix: 20 and 25 kg
Storage: Store in a dry place below 25°C (Air conditioning).
