Advice to Doctor:

Highly toxic by ingestion, may be fatal if swallowed. Small
doses may cause irritation of the stomach and intestines,
nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Larger doses may cause
violent gastroenteritis, bloody vomitus and stools, cold
sweats, weak and rapid pulse, shock, convulsions, coma
and death from circulatory failure.
May cause irritation.
May cause irritation, itching and dermatitis. May be
absorbed through the skin.
Toxic by inhalation of dust. May be fatal. May cause
acute pulmonary oedema (fluid build-up in the lungs),
restlessness, difficulty breathing, cyanosis (blueness of
the lips and tongue), cough with a foamy sputum.
Chronic skin exposure may lead to dermatitis and a bronze
pigmentation of the skin. Symptoms of exposure by any
route may include restlessness, nausea, vomiting,
headache, dizziness, chills, cramps, irritability and variable
paralysis that may progress over a period of several
weeks. May also cause degenerative changes to nerve
cells, irregular heartbeat, cirrhosis of the liver, jaundice,
abdominal pains, blood disturbances, excessive
salivation, anaemia, weight loss and kidney damage.
Arsenic and its compounds (as a group) are classified as
carcinogenic to humans, but animal data has so far failed
to conclusively support 3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic
acid as a carcinogen.

If poisoning occurs, contact doctor or Poisons
Information Centre. Phone 131 126.
If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water.
If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.
If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and
wash skin thoroughly. Wash clothing before re-use.
Remove from exposure, rest and keep warm. Obtain medical attention.
Eye wash. Hand wash basin.

* NOHSC - National Occupational Health & Safety
Commission (Worksafe Australia).
Prevent exposure to high temperatures. Ensure adequate
ventilation (same as outdoors) when using. If handling
more than laboratory-scale quantities, or if dust risk
exists, consider local mechanical exhaust/extraction to
keep airborne contamination as low as possible, and at
least below the TLV.
Prevent contact with skin and eyes. Do not breath dusts.
Personal protection to be selected from those
recommended below, as appropriate to mode of use,
quantity handled and degree of hazard:
Dust mask.
Eye/face protection.
Gloves - rubber or plastic.
Suitable overalls.
Positive pressure air-hood or full-face respirator.
Face shield or safety glasses.
Gloves or gauntlets - rubber or plastic.
Plastic apron, sleeves and boots.
Impervious overalls.
Solid is combustible, and will deflagrate when heated. Risk of dust explosion.

Store in a cool, well-ventilated place, out of reach of children. Large quantities should be stored in a
dangerous goods store. Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed and out of direct sunlight. Keep
away from naked flames and other sources of heat. Keep away from oxidising agents and mineral acids. Ensure
complete segregation from foodstuff and foodstuff empties. Protect from physical damage. Clean up all spills
promptly; avoid secondary accidents.
Disposal of small spillages only. For large spillages liquids should be contained using sand or earth, and both
liquids and solids then transferred to salvage containers. Residues should be treated as for small spillages.
CAUTION: Before dealing with spillage take necessary protective measures, inform others to keep at a safe
distance and, for flammable materials, shut off all possible sources of ignition.
CARE! Avoid generating dust.Mix with inert absorbent, carefully transfer to sealed container and arrange removal
by disposals company. Wash site of spillage thoroughly with water and detergent. Contain residues and washings.
Combustible solid. Heating will cause deflagration (rapid burning while giving off intense heat and sparks).
Products of combustion are extremely toxic. Potential risk of dust explosion.
Carbon dioxide, water vapour, black smoke, oxides of nitrogen, oxides of arsenic. Incomplete combustion may
also generate carbon monoxide.
Water spray, carbon dioxide, foam or dry powder.
2X
Water fog or fine water spray.
No
Full protective clothing including breathing apparatus and protective gloves.
Contain
No
Prevent spillages or washings from entering drains, natural waters or the environment. Arsenic compounds
are toxic to aquatic organisms. Treat empty containers as hazardous waste.
